Install the Desktop App
Download, install, and activate Digispot AI SEO Spider on macOS or Windows — then run your first crawl.
SEO Spider is Digispot's native desktop crawler. It runs on your own machine and keeps all crawl data local, which is why it suits client and NDA work. It installs like any native app. The only online step is activating your plan.
Before you begin
| macOS | Apple Silicon or Intel, macOS 12+ (.dmg) |
| Windows | 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 (.exe) |
| Linux | Not shipped — use the Cloud Platform instead |
| Account | A Digispot account (free) — the same one works on the cloud |
| Payment | None to start — the Scout tier is free |
Pick your platform below.
Download the installer
Get the .dmg from the
SEO Spider download page.
Apple Silicon (M-series) and Intel Macs use different builds — if you are
unsure, open the Apple menu and select About This Mac.
Open and drag to Applications
Open the downloaded .dmg and drag Digispot AI SEO Spider into your Applications
folder.
Allow it to run
The first launch shows a Gatekeeper prompt. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, then select Open Anyway.

Spider checks for updates on launch. You can always reinstall over an existing installation — your projects and crawl history are preserved.
Activate your plan
Sign in with your Digispot AI account. The same account works across the desktop app and the cloud platform. There is no separate Spider license to buy.
The desktop crawler is free to start on the Scout tier, with a 100-page cap. Paid Tracker and Leader plans, or the 7-day free trial, raise the limits and unlock AI, MCP, and Google. The number of machines (seats) you can activate depends on your plan. See Plans & tiers.
Activation needs an internet connection, even though crawling itself works offline.
Next step
With the app installed and activated, run a crawl end to end and read the results — see Run your first crawl.
Prefer not to install anything, or need to share audits with a team? The Cloud Platform runs the same crawls on Digispot's servers in any browser.
