Troubleshooting
Fixes for common problems across the Chrome extension, SEO Spider desktop app, and Cloud Platform.
Problems are grouped by product. If the issue crosses products — for example, a Google connection problem — check both the desktop and cloud sections.
Chrome extension
The extension shows no results
Check that you are on an http:// or https:// page — browser-internal pages
like chrome:// and edge:// cannot be audited. Confirm the extension is
enabled at chrome://extensions.
The extension asks to allow access
The extension needs one-time host permission for the site. Select Allow & analyze in the prompt. In fullscreen mode this appears the first time per domain; in popup mode it is handled automatically.
AI Audit button says "Unlock AI Audit"
No AI provider is connected. Go to Config → AI Provider, select a provider, paste your API key, and save. See Connecting an AI model.
CrUX, PageSpeed, or Domain Age says "Connect to unlock"
These lookups require a Digispot Extension Key. Go to Config → Account and connect your key. See Managed AI.
SERP mode does not activate on Google
Check that you are on one of the 17 supported Google country domains (.com,
.co.uk, .de, and others). Other search engines are not supported.
See SERP Intelligence.
SEO Spider — desktop app
Crawl finds only one page
The site is blocking crawlers in robots.txt, or the homepage has no crawlable
internal links. Open the Technical tab on the homepage report and check the
robots.txt and crawlability signals.
Crawl is very slow
Lower the concurrency in crawl settings. Some servers rate-limit aggressive crawlers, which shows up as slow responses rather than errors.
Desktop app will not open on macOS
Gatekeeper blocks the first launch. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and select Open Anyway. See Install the desktop app.
License will not activate
Activation requires an internet connection even though crawling itself works
offline. If you are behind a corporate proxy, allow api.digispot.ai. Also
confirm the system clock is correct — clock skew fails the license signature
check.
AI features show a lock or upgrade prompt
AI analysis requires the Tracker or Leader plan. The free Scout tier does not include AI. See Plans & tiers.
MCP server will not start
The server requires a project binding. Copy the configuration from the Spider app — Connect AI agent or Settings → MCP Server — rather than writing it by hand. See MCP server.
Cloud Platform
Audit run stays queued or fails immediately
Check the audit configuration has a valid root URL and at least one reachable page. If the root URL returns a 4xx or 5xx, the run will fail to start. See Audits & reports.
Google Insights shows no data
The Google integration may need reconnecting. Go to Settings → Projects & Integrations → Integrations and check the connection status. If it shows "Credentials invalid", re-run the OAuth flow. See Settings.
Content Studio is not available
Content Studio requires the Starter plan or above — it is blocked on the Free plan. See Plans & billing.
AI credits ran out mid-task
AI and Data credits are separate pools. Running out of AI credits stops AI generation but not keyword or backlink lookups. Check both balances under Settings → Usage & Analytics. See Plans & billing.
Invited team member cannot see a screen
Check the member's role. Specialist can create and manage projects and audits. Admin-only screens — Billing, User Management, Chrome Extension, MCP Server, and Spider License — are hidden from Specialists. See Teams & roles.
